Great Keppel Island is 43 km in circumference and has 27 km of secluded beaches which can be accessed by walking tracks which provide some superb views of the Island and surrounding sea. There are numerous walking tracks to select from, dependent upon level of fitness and time available. It’s a great way to see the Island’s flora and fauna in a sub-tropical climate.

You can purchase a map of Island walking tracks from any one of the Island businesses OR purchase a copy of Allan Briggs excellent booklet -"A Concise Guide to the Walking Tracks of Great Keppel Island".

We recommend you take notice of the suggestions below for your safety and enjoyment:

·         Talk with your accommodation host or an Island business operator to discuss a suitable walk.

·         Obtain a walking tracks map of the Island from one of the Island business operators.

.     To orient yourself to the island, choose a short walk early in your stay.

·         Try to plan your walks to avoid the hottest part of the day.

·         Take plenty of water to avoid dehydration.

·         Wear sensible shoes, a hat and sunscreen and insect repellant.

·         For a longer walk, take a picnic lunch.

·         Plan to return to your accommodation before dark.
